Actually I still don't understand why Tina or Cheltzie didn't take the assignment. Jamiee does need a training trip to give her that extra push on getting some triples. She has competed internationally many times at a primary and novice level so she does have SOME international experience. Jamiee is a pretty talented jumper and I feel I can safely say... could MAYBE... be the next talent after Cheltzie coming through. Correct me if I'm wrong??
There are so many things in the scheme of it all that I'm trying to understand. Maybe I should start a thread somewhere but Ozskatingmum I apologise if it shouldn't be here.
Questions:
Where will this place Australia for the next Jr Worlds?? Do we automatically get one spot?
If Cheltzie now skates Senior can she still compete at Jr Worlds next year?? Then again why would she want too??
Internationally where is Australia placed now on the Jr circuit and the Senior circuit?
If anyone can help with answers to these questions please do so. I'd like to try and make sense of it all! |

All ISU member countries get one spot for Worlds and Junior Worlds.
Countries that get certain placements in the event get extra entries for the next year. And the total value of those placements must be 13 or below.
I am surprised about Allie. For one I thought she would have at least gone for a more difficult jump than a double lutz. You just cannot afford to do that at that level. Surprised about the fall on the axel. She had been skating well during the season.
Probably not surprised about Jamie not making it through but I hope she skated well overall. It will be a good experience for her.
As for Jamie being the next skater after Cheltzie, she is indeed very talented with very good skating skills and nice technique. But is she doing anything above a level 1 element? Because my impression of her is good quality but not great difficulty in the spins and steps.
As for Cheltzie, I would have been very interested to see how she would have gone here. But I don't have a problem with her now looking to senior events. She is the same age as Jo was when Jo competed at senior internationally. If anything I think Cheltzie is a lot more talented than what Jo was at that age. |

| Hey we should mentioned Jonathan Guerreiro coming third in the dance event. An Aussie skating for Russia. Well done to him. |

Thanks for the explanation kwillyau! As for Allie Rout and the 2 lutz, for the junior short prog the lutz is the required jump I think??
I think Allie and Cheltzie are similar only in that they both have additional triples they can do but not consistent with them. Cheltzie of course to me is a better skater, the quality of what she does mostly earns her additional grades of execution! She's a talented and powerful skater who's coming into her own with her grace and beauty! I have seen her do so much more in practice. I have seen her do beautiful triple triple combos pretty consistently, 3loop and 3 lutz combo as well but not as consistent. Not sure why her camp hasn't added those to her arsenal of jumps! Hhhmmmmmm.
Allie lacks power in her jumps...sort of up down landings but rotates quickly I think. Allie has an unusual style of skating ...that's for sure but has managed to do well internationally for New Zealand. Allie is definately a talent out of New Zealand and good for her! Personally I think she was lucky enough to do a clean sweep at our nationals because Cheltzie was injured at the time.
Jo had maybe a couple more triples at 15...I think....checking on that now. But Jo surely didn't have the quality of what she could do like Cheltzie has now at 15 years old and I'm sure that will only continue to improve.
I think there will be a few surprises next season from Cheltzie Lee but for now I just hope her camp works on her pulling off consistent programs as that is what will make the cut at Worlds! |

There were quite a few others doing solo triples as well as triple in combination. So it doesn't look like there were any prescribed jumps in the SP. So again looking back I am surprised she did a 2 lutz.
I agree about Allie's jumps but the thing I really like about her is she is different to most skaters out there. She is definately voidy and stands out from the pack with her costumes and music. I really respect a skater, particularly at that age, who has enough nouse and foresight to put herself out there in that way. Because most of them are doing what everyone else is doing. |

I think isk8junkie is correct.
If the protocols from the competition are anything to go by, the required jump out of steps in the short program was a double or triple lutz.
Based on that observation, I don't think Rout has a triple lutz (or at least a consistent enough one) to include it.
Also, at the 1996 Junior Worlds in Brisbane, Carter had a triple toe loop, triple loop, and a triple flip.
