| Direction of Adult Skating in Australia |
This weekend in Melbourne we are holding the first Adult competition which will be competed using the new ISA rules and also being judged under IJS.
There will be a few of the Sydney skaters coming to Melbourne which we are looking forward to.
Hopefully this will be a great chance to discuss and formulate plans for the future direction of adult skating in Australia.
One of these plans could be an Adult Nationals, but it would be interesting to hear of other ideas that could be discussed.
If you have any suggestions or ideas please feel free to throw them in this thread. |

Personally I'd love to see an Adult Nationals - as long as it was split into divisions according to age as well as level. As a 50 year old, I know I'm not competitive against 19-30 year olds.
I would also love to see a specific Adult Test structure. One that takes into account that adults may (or may not) have some physical limitations but isn't patronisingly low expectations. |

They will appear on the Olympic Figure Skating Club website at www.ofdc.org.au. I have sent them to our web guy but I was told he is away at the moment.
The competition went really well. It was great to have the Sydney skaters come and compete. Hopefully they will all head back to Sydney and it will encourage other adult skaters to come next year.
We also ran IJS for the divisions above Silver and also the Interpretive. I set it up and was pretty pleased with how it all went. The lower divisions and dance we used 6.0. |
