I have a child who is going to attend this camp and I must say I was impressed that finally ISA is putting some time and money into our developing skaters. This is a fantastic initiative!

I have been told this is a first in a number of camps for development. GREAT.

I look forward to seeing how this all develops.

Pat on the back for ISA.

From Victoria Alex Dillon, Adele Morrison and Eric Karnani were selected along with Kassidy.

The biggest issue about the camp here in Victoria was the information that ISA put out about it was asking the state associations and then the clubs to help fund the skaters to go.  There had been no official notification from ISA to the associations or clubs directly.  However it did lead to assumptions that the associations or clubs would provide assistance.

Having had to deal with the issue on a club and state association basis here in Victoria, it certainly made me aware that all clubs and association should have guidelines for skater assistance in order and be very clear about what they cover.  Because from past experience, an ad hoc approach can lead to setting precedents that can then come back to bite clubs on the bum.

Another issue is I am not sure what the criteria was for selection.  Does anyone know or have heard anything?

HI there,

My son went to this camp and had a fantastic time.

The initial criteria was based on placings from Nationals in Novice and Primary. I think it was top or five and they had to be younger than 16. This also included Dance and Pairs.

They then also included a couple from intermediate and Juniors

From Sydney we had a number go

Loretta Nyugen (Novice)
Kirsten Hargraves (Primary)
Harley Dahlstrom (Novice)
Leah Cloke (Primary)
Renee Hambley (Primary)
Kalaine Craine (Primary)
Chantelle Kerry (Junior)
Maho Fujita (sp) (Junior)
Zara Pasfield (Junior)

Callum Bullard and Maggie O'Toole (Pairs) (Callum also Singles)
Cameron Hemmert and Kimberley Hew Low (Dance) (Cameron Also Singles)
Dominic Di Tommaso and Courtney Flynn (Dance) (Now split so did not attend)

I'm sure I may have missed someone.

Some of the kids were billeted and number of parents chose to go with their skaters so they had to pay accommodation.
Personally I can't believe that I sent my son away for a whole week for what it cost me... it would have cost me more to keep him home for the week and had 5 whole days of "eduction".

Dominic has gone back to pairs and is skating with Maho and Courtney is on the hunt for a new dance partner, it's a shame as they had just tested Novice and the first of the junior Dances. So any young men out there looking for a Dance partner!!

That is a shame.  They made a good couple.  Although I thought Dominic had just the righ personality to be an ice dancer.

Still he is a big strong boy and would also be suited to pairs.

Nice there are skaters wanting to do pairs and dance.  It has been a long time coming.
